Possum Magic

We have been hearing a lot of scratching and thumping the last week or so at night. I thought a cat had got into the house, then while I was on nights Jen was woken up at 5am and thought there was a burglar. While I was wandering around (up to settle Hamish, again at 5am) I noticed that the noise was coming from the downstairs ceiling. We figured it must be a possum, as there is a small gap under the deck (under the door into the kitchen) which goes straight under the upstairs floor and above the downstairs ceiling. He (or she) is a noisy little bugger, and has a good old scratch and rummage half the night and a fair amount of the day too.

Pretty unconcerned as well. I wandered out when I heard him make his way to the exit and took a few photos with the flash on. Totally unfazed. He's pretty big too for a possum (they're about the size of a cat -males up to about 4.5 kg)

Hello world

So now we have the noisiest and most brazen possum in Brisbane living in our house. Tomorrow I plan (I'll probably forget though) to phone up the possum man to get him out, cover the hole, and put up some possum boxes in the trees outside so he has a new home to go to.

As his current home is directly above my desk he's been helping me study. How considerate.

Day out

Went into Brisbane city centre a few weeks ago. Jen's band had some sort of performance at Southbank (On the bank of the Brisbane River) but there are lots of things to do there for those of us who were less inclined to listen to brass bands on days off so we went along with the boys.

Same again but with Tom
