Holiday

On annual leave for the next ten days, while the parents fly into town and pay a visit. Which means it's not really a holiday, but never mind. Jen's just gone off to Nambour for a band competition, but will be back later in the day (it's only about an hour's drive). I'm working this afternoon hence staying at home.

Been up to remarkably little. Started studying for ED exams (months away, but these are very esoteric and involve things I did at medical school and haven't seen for about 8 years). Also bought an exercise bike to try and prevent getting fatter.

New job is a bit different. Much more of a supervisory role, so all I do is sit around and wait for my team of juniors to see patients and then tell me about them. Was working for ten hours yesterday and did absolutely bugger all, which is actually a bit of a pain. Doing nothing is much more boring than doing something.

The boy is now walking everywhere, though still falls over regularly, landing on his arse and then immediately clapping his hands and laughing. He's probably happy about it as he has so much padding there it could never hurt. He still eats like he's never been fed before, and weighed in at about 12kg when he hit one year (i.e. approx average weight of a 2 year old). He's getting a bit over excited by books, and insist on reading them whenever he can. He is just as happy with them upside down, which is a bit odd, seeing as all he does is look at pictures.

Jen's now pretty enormous with number 2; people have been asking now for about a month if she's just about to deliver and we're still 3 months away from the expected due date. The poor girl is also the victim of horrendous internal domestic abuse with a constant battering from the 25 week foetus. Considerably more kicking than Callum, who was not shy of a few pokes at the liver.

She's getting fairly uncomfortable now and tosses and turns all night (hence, neither of us get a decent sleep). We were going to get a recliner for nursing but brought that a few months forward in case that's any better to sleep in as she gets more elephantine. Obviously her majesty wanted a leather La-Z-boy rather than some generic brand, but she isn't quite to the stage of needing it at night yet. I have found it excellent for afternoon naps though.
